A wise friend told me recently to not let perfection get in the way of progress, so let's get started...
I am deeply concerned with the direction we are moving. Though I would like to think that after President Trump we will reunify, more informed and committed than ever, I do not find that inevitable. I find it equally likely that we continue to retreat even further into tribalism, partisanship, and division.
Everyone who is alive and thinking today will play a part in deciding that future. We need to fix the problem, not the blame. Who cares who is more responsible for partisanship - what are you doing to fix it? What does it matter exactly how many lies your opponents tell. What are they right about? What can you learn from them?
Questions For Friends is my attempt to learn from all the voices I once discounted and ignored. It's an attempt to spice up my conversations with inquiry, not diatribes. It's an attempt to break out of an echo chamber that so many people live in. It's an attempt to fix the problem of the 21st century - our utter inability to communicate with people we disagree with.
Mostly, Questions For Friends is an invitation to you, friendly reader. Whether there is only one friend of the site or many, I hope that you can help me keep learning. I'm not writing about shit that I have solidified opinions on, and I'm not asking questions facetiously. If there is content here, it represents my honest engagement with something that I was unsure of. All I ask is that you engage the same with me.
All posts have a TL;DR section at the bottom with key questions and quick takes. The quick takes range from quick media snippets, stand up comedy, movie recommendations, and more.
Social media is a work in progress and should be up soon.
